Contributing in a Positive Way

Los Angeles is a city filled to the brim with Change Agents. We are a city that works together to change for the better, filled with inspirational leaders who are not afraid to alter the status quo in their journey to making Los Angeles a better place to live, work, and play. Our greatest asset is our people; it is because of the hard work and passionate nature of these Angelenos that we can be proud of what we have accomplished as a community and rejoice in calling Los Angeles our home.

The Chamber’s City of Angels Awards Gala had a packed house with over 240 attendees.

From economic powerhouses to selfless philanthropists, each day within Los Angeles highlights the amazing men and women that are working tirelessly to make this city great—and the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that on Tuesday, April 16, they were able to recognize three such leaders at their annual City of Angels Awards Gala. The event was hosted at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel and recognized the impacts and accomplishments of:

  • Councilmember Mike Bonin, 11th District
  • Mayor James T. Butts, City of Inglewood
  • Joe Czyzyk, Mercury Air Group

Each “Angel” was honored for showing dedication to the city of Los Angeles through their civic engagement, outreach efforts, and volunteerism. The LAX Coastal Chamber was proud for the chance to say “Thank you!” to each honoree with an engraved Angel Award and a promotional video highlighting heir accomplishments by proud Chamber member, Fiction Films. For the finishing touch, the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel staff presented all guests with a triple chocolate cheesecake dessert—garnished with the logos of each honoree.

A special LAX Coastal dessert featuring the logos of our three 2019 COA honorees.

The evening’s program also celebrated the milestone anniversaries of local businesses that are involved with the Chamber and community. Owning and running a business is no simple task, and the LAX Coastal Chamber understands that professional success requires hard work and dedication and that it is only through the strength of employees and owners alike that a business can thrive year after year. From 5 to 155 years, the Chamber was proud to celebrate each and every member anniversary on stage at the City of Angels Awards Gala with thunderous applause and a signed proclamation. Congratulations once again to the evening’s highest anniversary, McCarthy Building Companies, who was celebrating 155 years in business.

The LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce would like to remind all local business owners, professionals, and residents that they too can make a difference. In the words of honoree Councilmember Mike Bonin, “I’m really acutely aware that I’ve got today to try to make a difference. I might have tomorrow, I don’t know, but I know I have today. Part of your job as a human being is you have to contribute in a positive way.”

Congratulations to our top anniversary: McCarthy Building Companies celebrating 155 years!
